About Me

G'day! I play drums more as a hobby than for any serious professional aspirations, but I do love it and hope it's something I can continue for the rest of my life, so I can be really good at something when I'm like 60.

It helps to know how songs go when you want to play them, so I got into tabbing a few years ago. Mostly I tab things for myself, but I figure since I've done it I might as well share the love. I go more for the kind of alternative songs where the drums really stick out for me: Dave Matthews Band (#41 was a defining moment on my musical life), a lot of Bloc Party and Coldplay from the earlier days, and now a lot of figuring out stuff you might not expect to be tabbed (e.g. Jojo Mayer's Sycnopath from MD05).

My other hobby is programming, so one day I decided to put the two together, and I'm currently developing a little application called Taboo that lets you easily edit drum tabs in their natural ASCII habitat. It's been a blast so far and you can only follow its progress here on the MXTabs Forums (http://talk.mxtabs.net/index.php?showtopic=1215).

I'm into a range of different genres, but I play drums for the feel and the groove, so I always come back to the funk of RHCP, power of the Foo Fighters, and the really original, musical drumming like that of Dave Matthews Band and Tool.

Hobbies & Interests

I'm a huge fan of music, and I'll be listening to it whenever I get half a chance. I can't get enough drumming by the likes of Carter Beauford, Danny Carey, and more recently Gavin Harrison. Also a huge Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead fan, and I love pretty much anything to do with computers (especially programming). I'm also currently at Uni studying for my Bachelor of Commerce.
