Artist: Green Day
Song: "When I Come Around"
Album: Dookie & International Superhits
Bassist: Mike Dirnt
Tabber: prymdirective@msn.com

Standard Tuning

Key of Symbols and Notations:
============================
h = Hammer On
p = Pull Off
/ = Slide to
x = Palm Mute

INTRO:
**The Guitar Will Play the Following Progression:
F# C# D# B
Then Come in with:

G|-----3h4p3-|
D|-4-4-------|
A|-----------|
E|-----------|

**Then You'll break Into the Verse.
The Verse Bass Line is as Follows:

VERSE:

G|-------3h4p3--------------------------------------------------|
D|-4-4-4-------------3h4p3--------------------------------------|
A|-------------4-4-4--------6-6-6-2-<(Slight Ring out on that 2)|
E|--------------------------------------------------------------|

**That Will Be Played until a Drum Roll comes in,
That Drum Roll will signal that the chorus is coming in.
The Chorus isn't as complicated as the Verse and Intro
Because it isn't laden with the Grace Notes.

CHORUS:
                            (part a) (Part b)
G|----------------------------------|-------|
D|----------------------------------|-5h6p5-|
A|----------------------------------|-------|
E|-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-/6-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-|-------|

**Play Part A, then Part B, then Part A, then as Billy is rining out
"WHEN I COME AROUND" Hit This Last Part, as Follows:

G|-4p3-|
D|-----|
A|-----|
E|-----|

**After that, you'll go back into the verse, and the rest of the song is just
following the peices i've layed down for you. There is no difficult bridge
Or refrain, just play that verse line under the solo and such, and you
can't go wrong!

I am correcting this tab and the first correction made on this tab, the tab needs a few minor adjustments and to the first person who made a correction on this tab (you should probably learn how to play bass because anyone who plays bass like me would know that the ninth fret on the A string is the same as the 4th fret on the D string so learn your harmonic scales or something), anyways here is a correct tab that i tabbed myself

this is a continuation of my last correction

D4-4-------3h4p3-1-1------|

A-------4-4---------------|

E-------------------------|

The verses go like

|---------4-44-----4-------2-|

rhythmboyrhythmboyUnknown Date
that was really messy

here it is

|---------4-44------4-------2-|

|------------------------------|

That should work
cranton182cranton182Unknown Date
you could always play the last bit on each verse like this

G|-------3h4p3--------------------------------------------------|

D|-4-4--------------3h4p3------1-1---------------------------------|

A|-------------4-4------------------2~---------------

E|--------------------------------------------------------------|

the chorus also has some weird bass hammer on, im not quite sure what that is though. Apart from that gr8 tab!!

I'm not a big Green Day fan, but this song is one that I listen to alot.

I think Mike plucks the 3h4p3 in the song.

?rhthymboy was almost right (I think) I play it like this

|-----3h4p3---------------3h4---|

|4-44---------3h4p3--1-1--------|

|---------4-44------4---------2-|

|-------------------------------|

and also I find its easier instead of playing

A|-6-6-6-2

I play

D|-1-1-1--|

A|-------2|

and skatanic, your ninth fret thing is EXACTLY the same as the way pyrmdirective tabbed it. try tuning your bass and then when you play A9 you might just notice its the same as D4

In the Verse, i beleive You only play 4 two times and not three.

Your Corrections

On the Verse you only play the 4 on D, 4 on A, and 6 on A, twice. And the Intro doesn't sound right. It sounds like its missing some notes. I'd like if you looked into this.

It's a lot easier to follow the begginer version put up, u don't have all the mute and slides to deal with an it sounds just the same.
jerrybolegweakjerrybolegweakUnknown Date
Theres no drum roll it's just a simple fill to come in at the chorus

This isnt in the original recorsding, but it sounds really good if in the verse, between the last 6 and the 2 and after the 2 you slap all the strings
lankybassplayerlankybassplayerUnknown Date
in the chorus i'm pretty sure u hit 4th fret, not 5th fret d string before hammering on the 6th fret thats the only thing i picked up
gorillazplaya544gorillazplaya544Unknown Date
bassmaster0504 u do hit those notes 3 times cause it sounds wrong if u play the m only twice this tab is perfect
