This Is The Life - Amy MacDonald
Tabbed by pigeonfarmer2.0(pigeonfarmer_33@yahoo.com)

Nice song, very easy to learn once you get used to the rythmn; i was tired of trying to find an accurate tab for this so i just decided to work it out myself, this is standard tuning and no capo needed.

The verse is a nice easy progression, and it has very natural feel, you just need to get used to the jumpy rythmn and the speed of the lyrics. Chorus and verse are very similar and the fill in/bridge bits are just plain easy to work out youselves.

If its of any use to you the basic rythmn is of the song is,
"1 2 and 3 and 4 and 1 2 and 3 and 4 and 1 2 and 3 and 4 and..."
might be useful or it might not but i'm sure you can pick it up anyway.

Tab

Starts with light muting riff on the 4th fret, goes on for a couple of bars then into the verse.

Fill In

Just for those of you too lazy to work out the fill ins for yourself... while its easiest to play it around the 2nd fret(as i've tabbed it),
i myself think it sounds much nicer on the 3rd string, around the 6-9th frets; its got a softer sound.

Chords

Intro

Verse 1 - C#m, C#m+7, A, E(low), G#m

C#m C#m+7
Oh the wind whistles down
    A A(Open)
The cold dark street tonight
        E G#m
And the people they were dancing to the music vibe
        C#m
And the boys chase the girls
        C#m+7
With the curls in their hair
        A A(Open)
And the shy tormented youth sit way over there
        E
And the songs they get louder
                       G#m
Each one better than before

Chorus

C#m
And you’re singing the songs

Thinking this is the life
                       A A(Open)
And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size
                E(high)
Where you gonna go

Where you gonna go
                        G#m
Where you gonna sleep tonight

C#m
And you’re singing the songs

Thinking this is the life
        A A(Open)
And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size
E(high)
Where you gonna go

Where you gonna go
                      G#m
Where you gonna sleep tonight

Bridge

Verse 2

C#m C#m+7
So you’re heading down the road

In your taxi for four
           A A(Open)
And you’re waiting outside Jimmy’s front door
    E(low) G#m
But nobody’s in and nobody’s home ‘til four
          C#m C#m+7
So you’re sitting there with nothing to do
 A A(Open)
Talking about Robert Riger and his motley crew
    E(low) G#m
And where you’re gonna go and where you’re gonna sleep tonight
